Taking part
User types and access
You can read public information, receive email updates or take part in the Zero-Based Workforce Project. Each involves different information and permissions.
What is available now
Protected research access is temporarily unavailable. The homepage signup is for launch updates. It does not create a website account. Previous invitations do not unlock protected material in this release.
Readers, subscribers and accounts
Public readers can read information published on the website without an account.
Email subscribers have opted into email updates. A subscription does not create a website account or grant private access. You can leave the email list at any time.
Account holders have a verified website account. An account identifies you; your permissions determine which member, organisation or research resources you can use.
Three research relationships
Expert Partner
You have written a relevant article, whitepaper, report or commentary. We discuss that work, its context, corrections, updates and any further information you can provide.
Academic Contributor
We have identified a specific academic paper we would like to reference. We discuss its proposed use and ask about relevant context, related research or newer work.
Academic Partner
We explore an ongoing collaboration with an agreed scope. This may include developing questions, challenging assumptions, reviewing methods and discussing later use of project data.
These descriptions explain a person's relationship with the project. They do not confer unrestricted access, endorsement or rights to use data. We agree private access separately.
Research contributions are free. Paid organisational membership covers its stated benefits; it does not buy research-partner status or control over findings.
How private information is gated
When protected research access opens, it will require a verified account and sign-in, individual ZBW approval, acceptance of the applicable confidentiality, attribution or permitted-use terms, and an active permission for the particular material.
Approval defines the material, permitted purpose and any time limit. Access may expire or be withdrawn. An email subscription, institutional email address, organisation membership or payment does not automatically grant private research access.
Only data and calculations cleared for sharing may be released. Approval does not include private correspondence, agreements, billing or another participant's raw data. Rights to source papers and datasets still apply.
Who manages access
Organisation members use their organisation's permitted workspace. Organisation administrators manage that organisation's team, workspace and billing. ZBW project administrators manage project operations and research-access decisions.
